Atom AE's win first game of the series
The Atom AE's came out on top Saturday afternoon after winning the first game of the series against Mitchell.
The first game was played January 10 in Listowel. The Cyclones came out hard in the first when Lucas Jamieson and Derek Fischer found the net after being set up by Andrew Bauman. Mitchell came back with a goal in the second which had them fired up going into the third. Their spirits were dampened when Austin McGrath stuck one in after being fed by Ben Bowman and Cooper Miller. Mitchell answered back 2 minutes later when they snuck one by goalie Nicholas O'Grady. The score was now 3-2 and Listowel knew things were too close. Two of the pointmen, Bowman and Reid Gooding, made things happen by getting the puck to McGrath who found a hole to make it 4 - 2 for Listowel. Derek Fischer, stealing the disk along the boards, rushed in to find the top corner with a booming wrist shot. Bauman, after getting help from Brett MacLeod and Michael Uptigrove, jammed one in with a wrap around. To finish the scoring off for Listowel with 1:27 left to play, McGrath finished off his hat-trick from Matt Senek and Uptigrove making it a 7 - 2 final, giving Listowel the first win of the series.
