AE’s end Regular Season with Tie
In the other game played Tuesday night the Midget AE’s and Normanby battled to a 2-2 tie.
While Canada & the US where battling for Jr. Hockey gold, the midget AE Cyclone where tangling with the Wildcats of Normanby. The similarity between the 2 games continues as both where fast paced games that ended in a regulation tie.
In Listowel, the Cycs opened the scoring mid-way through the 1st as Matt Wilkan buried a rebound off a set face-off play (assist Cory George). The Wildcats would tied the game in the 2nd then take the led early in the 3rd. Undaunted the AE’s continued to battle and where rewarded when Drew Hicks would tuck home his own rebound just minutes later (assists Wilkans, Jordan Rumph). The remainder of the 3rd period would solve nothing as both teams exchanged chances but the goaltenders stood tall. Along with the fast pace, this game almost saw a midget anomaly, a penalty-free game. The Cycs took no penalties while Normanby only had 3 (2 of which where in the last minute).
This game marked the end of the regular season for the Cycs who now wait to hear about the playoffs. If they continue working hard and staying discipline, who knows how far they may go.
