Bantam Reps Win Exeter Tournament
The Bantam Reps continued their winning ways by capturing the championship in the Bill Batten Memorial Tournament on Sunday afternoon.

The Bantams opened the tourney on Saturday against the host South Huron Sabres.  South Huron scored first, just 2 minutes into the game, but from then on it was all Cyclones as they rattled off 8 straight goals to win the game.  Ben Verkley led the way with 3 goals and 2 assists.  Luke Binning notched 2 goals and added 2 helpers.  Also scoring for the Cyclones were John McKeown, Conner Dewar and Zac McPhee.  Assists went to Justin Bauman (2), Darren Kerr, and McKeown.  Brett Fletcher picked up the victory in net.
Sunday morning was a case of deja-vu for the Cyclones as they defeated the BCH IceDogs by an identical 8-1 score.  This game was a great display of passing by the team, as many of the goals were tap-ins as the result of some great passes.  Verkley again led the onslaught with 5 goals. Kerr added 2 goals and 2 assists, while Binning had a goal and an assist.  Assists also went to McKeown (2), Kyle Sippel (2), McPhee and Thad Lucas.  Ryan Hak picked up the game 2 victory.
The final game pitted the Cyclones against the Mount Forest Rams.  The first period saw the Cyclones come out flat and they relied on goaltender Hak to keep the game scoreless.  A number of turnovers resulted in some great chances for Mount Forest but Hak turned them aside and also stopped a penalty shot in the period.  Early in the second, the Cycs broke through as Ben Ashworth chipped a rebound over the goalie, following a good chance by Binning.  Mount Forest tied it up but the Cycs came right back as McPhee set up Travis Bender from behind the net and Bender jammed it home to regain the lead.  Then late in the second period Bauman dumped the puck into the Rams zone where a Mount Forest defender went to skate around the net and inadvertently put the puck in his own net.  Early in the third, Bender scored again with Kerr and McPhee picking up assists.  Binning then rounded out the Cyclones scoring with an assist from Sippel.  Mount Forest would then add a late goal to make the final 5-2.
This was the boys second tournament victory of the year and improves their record on the season to 18-0-1.
