Atom Rep's Open Regular Season with a Win and a Tie
The Atom Rep's opened the regular season with a 2-2 tie against Walkerton Capitals on Saturday followed by a 5-0 shutout win against Seaforth Stars on Sunday.
Listowel got off to a quick start against Walkerton on Saturday with an early goal by Bailey Matheson, with the assist going to Carter Collinson. In the second period, Listowel extended the lead with a goal from Bryce Fletcher assisted by Josh Gotfried. Walkerton got a goal late in the second to close the gap, and scored late in the third to earn the tie. Jacob Nethercott played a strong game in the net for Listowel.
On Sunday, Listowel got off to another quick start with against Seaforth with a goal on the first shift of the game by Carter Collinson assisted by Josh Gottfried. Baliley Matheson extended the lead late in the first with the assists going to Lane Buchanan and Bryce Flectcher. Buchanan then notched a shorthanded goal on a breakaway pass from Parker Yungblut. Gottfried was the hot man in the third with a pair of goals to round out the scoring. Assists on the goals went to Wade McPhee and Fletcher. Braeden Ellis made several strong saves in the Listowel net to earn the shutout.
