Midget Reps Beat Kinucks in Game One
In what looked as though could be a hard fought game in the opening minutes ended in a convincing victory on Listowel's part.

In the early minutes of the game each team came out ready to play as each exchanged numerous scoring opportunities. However, with a lucky bounce after some hard hits in the corner, the puck came lose to Listowel's Derek Fraser at the top of the circle and he put it home to give Listowel a 1-0 lead. This seemed to give Listowel the life they needed to dominate the Kinucks on both ends of the ice beating them to most loose pucks. With just over 5 minutes left in the first Listowel made a quick break out of their zone from a cross ice mass from Dilan Boisvert to George "animal" McKeown who busted wide beating the Kincardine defence. George went in on the goalie and with him sprawling towards the corner he dropped the puck out front to Corey Conners who put the puck home. The first ended with Listowel leading 2-0.

The second period ended up being a blow out from Listowel's standpoint as they added 4 unanswered goals. Eric Boisvert started off the scoring, with Mark Verkley, Josh McPhee, and Jacklin all adding goals to give the Midgets a 6-0 lead at the end of the second.

Kincardine opened the scoring in the third period with a shot from the top of the circle that caught Listowel goaltender David Irwin off guard over his right shoulder. David should be noted for his strong play throughout the game as he had to be ready for scoring chances created by Kincardine. The game ended in a 6-1 win for the Cyclones.

All of the players should be commended for their disciplined play throughout the game and for their hard work to start to 2008-2009 playoffs.

Next action is Friday, January 23, 9:30pm Kinardine.
