Jr Development enters second half of year
The Junior Development program Level 1 enters the second half of the year by playing head to head games.

The first half season began with development of skating and balance drills. All players take part in the skills development program and learn some of the basics to skating and hockey in general. As the season has moved along the development levels have increased and the players have been tested on a regular basis to see if the program is at the proper level. As all players are at different levels some will develop mare than others.

The next step in November and December was to play 3 on 3 hockey with our players. The players responded exceptionally well. When we play these games it allows us as coaches to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of our players.

The evaluation process is an ongoing factor that will affect all players in the future.

The areas in this program that will remain constant throughout this season will as follows:
1) Skating every practice with and without a puck for a minimum of 1/2 of practice.
2) The on ice familiarization with playing positions and team play.
3) The aspect of going to the puck and making a play.
4) Some players want to develop as goalies, at this time players will play with goal equipment.
5) The players listening to instruction.
6) Most importantly that our kids know that hockey is "FUN".

As this second half begins you as parents will notice that the practices will be run at a higher pace as the basics have been accomplished. It is important that the players be on time and be ready to play when our scheduled time is slotted.

Thank You, if you have questions please let me know.  Trevor Reading - Junior Development Director.
