Cycs and Kinucks All Square
As predicted, the WOAA semi final series versus Kincardine is proving to live up to expectations. After two well fought battles, the best of five series currently sits at one game a piece. The series got under way on Tuesday Jan. 13th. After enduring a stormy drive to Kincardine, the Cyclones showed no ill effects from their long trip. From the opening face off, it was all Listowel. After two periods, the Cyclones had gained a relatively easy 7 to 3 advantage. In the third, the Cycs a little guilty of sitting on their lead, managed to make things interesting by giving up a couple of quick goals. Riley Conners empty netter with just over a minute left would secure the victory. Final score Listowel 8. Kincardine 5. Goal scorers for Listowel were Matthew Koch (2), Tyler Russell (2), Riley Conners(2). Owen Bender and Graeden Geiger rounded out the scoring. Assists on the night went to Bender (2), Conners (2), Koch, Cole Fletcher and Drew McKee.
January 14th in Listowel would prove to be a different story. The Cycs perhaps a little tired from their previous late night, started slowly and never recovered. Final score Kincardine 5 Listowel 2. Tyler Russell and Drew McKee provided the Cyclone offence. Assists were earned by Austin Service (2) and Geiger.
