The Cyclones narrowly edge the Thunder!
The Bantam AE Cyclones bounce back with a win over the Clifford Thunder! The team has been mis-firing for a week, but their intensity level and commitment returned on Saturday, November 29th in Clifford with a 5-4 victory.

The Cycs recently experienced a rough loss to the Drayton Defenders and then a few days later, they escaped with a tie against the Mitchell Meteors. The Cyclones needed a win! Coach Rollie Smith rallied the team during pre-game discussion in Clifford, and the boys responded!

In the first period, no one could hear the thunder! The Cyclones controlled the flow of the game with precision passing and persistent work in front of the net. Cory Wilson captured the first goal of the game with an assist from Tyson Duck. Less than an minute later, Cody Matheson fired a beautiful shot upstairs giving the team a 2-0 lead!

Jacob Askin was a key to this game with his aggressive back checking. He regained control of the puck in the neutral zone for the Cycs on several occasions throughout the match. Jacob was rewarded for his hard work with goal number three in the second period. Cory Wilson, on a two on one break, tried to feed Michael Hogwood with a bullet pass, but the puck somehow bounced back onto his stick. With eyes wide to a partially open net ..... Wilson scores - 4-0!

Moving into the third period, with a 4-1 lead, the Cyclones began to hear the sound of the Thunder! Michael Hogwood grabbed one more for the Cycs giving the team a 5-1 advantage, but Clifford scored three unanswered goals before the buzzer sounded. The Cyclones were pleased with the win, but know that there is more work to be done!

The Bantam AE's return to action on December 03rd in Listowel to complete their "back to back" against the Clifford Thunder.  See you there!
