Midget AE Cyclone’s out dual Storm
The Midget AE’s continue their winning ways as they toppled the Saugeen Shores Storm 4-3

The hometown Cycs have been on a bit of a run as of late having only lost once in their last 8 games (an OT lose), but their new found work ethic would be tested by the always tough Saugeen Shores Storm. The AE’s seemed up to the task as they came out fired up, as shift after shift they fore-checked hard creating several turnovers, and they where eventually rewarded as Devon Elg snapped a shot past the Storm tender (assist Young). Saugeen answered back midway through the 1st but undaunted the Cycs continued the tenacious pressure which resulted in a power-play goal by Drew Hicks (assist Elg). Despite some great work ethic by the team, a few mishaps or bad bounces saw Saugeen tie then take the lead in the 2nd period. The Cycs would show their character as the McNichol/ Lockie/ Martin line, who had several great scoring chances throughout the game, finally finished off a great 3 way passing play (McNichol got the goal with Lockie & Martin drawing assists). Heading into the 3rd period tied the hometown Cycs continued their great effort and where again rewarded as Jackson Martin roofed a shot over the Storm tender giving the Cyc’s the 4-3 led. Despite a late push by Saugeen the team defense and goaltending held strong preserving the 4-3 victory and running their current unbeaten streak to 4.

Coach Jerry Rozendal commented “that this game was probably one of best all round efforts of the year.” The forwards worked hard in both ends of the rink and the defense played tough in their own end and for the most part moved the puck really well. The AE’s are back in action Sunday night as they travel to Milverton for a 6:00 game.
