The Midget AE’s are clicking on all cylinders right now as 5 different scorers powered them to a 6-0 victory over Blyth
The Cycs dominated the 1st period from the drop of the puck, their speed and tenacious checking seemed to catch Blyth off guard. Their efforts paid off with 3 first period goals. The 1st coming from Eric Boisvert as he tucked home a nice cycling pass from Brody Tucker. That line would strike again just 13 seconds later as this time Steven Cleary roofed the Boisvert rebound. Justin Jacklin would round out the 1st period scoring when he buried the Cleary feed. The 2nd period was a different story, as a combination of uninspired Cyclone play and a more determined Bulldog effort had Listowel on their heels for most of the period. However Nathan Fletcher stood tall turning away everything Blyth hand to offer, preserving the 3-0 led. After the break the AE’s seemed to regain their earlier form as Jackson Martin banged home the wrap-around early in the period (assist Lockie). The early goal seemed to inspire the AE’s as a couple minutes later Ryan Young would redirected a Devon Elg pass pushing the led to 5-0, then Martin rounded out the scoring on the power-play, on a nice feed from McNichol.
The AE’s seem to be peeking at the right time, winners of their last 3. Their success is fueled by a determined work ethic and good puck movement. With only 4 league games and 1 tournament before playoffs it could be coming at a better time. Their next action is Friday night in Howick @ 8:30
