Victory in Walkerton!
Novice Ll played in Walkerton for a 3-1 victory. Hardest worker went to the WHOLE TEAM. Liam Cassidy got the Best Digger.
The pace of the game was fast and furious on the Listowel side. The scoring began on a break-away by Marlee Ament who found the back of the net with a hard, low shot to the bottom corner. Nathan Hallman continued the scoring with a nifty bank shot from behind the Walkerton net. Forwards Lucas Matheson, Travis Bannerman, Jake Layton, made their presence felt by outstanding positional play at both ends of the rink. The line of Hallman ,Cassidy and Wall buzzed around the Walkerton net creating many scoring chances. The defense kept Walkerton at bay with great hustle by Anne Rothwell, Jake Zyta , Dietrich Westberg and Logan Jacklin. The defense stood strong infront of a very competent netminder Seth Johnston, who turned away some challenging shots. Coach Zyta switched things up a bit in the third moving Jacklin to forward and Bannerman to defense, this proved to be successful as Jacklin jammed in the final goal of the game assisted by Ament. Coaches Matheson and Jacklin would have been proud of the effort put forth by their squad.....if they had been present. Forwards Clemmer and Judge were missed in this match. The best digger went to relentless winger Liam Cassidy and the hardest worker award went to the much deserving entire team. Well done!!
