Atom cyclones hit stride at right time.
Playoff hockey is what every coach wants their kids to learn how to play. Since the Christmas break this atom rep squad has compiled a 10-1 record and are steaming their way to their goal of an All Ontario birth.

The playoff schedule has began with Listowel playing Walkerton in the first round.

Game 1 was held in Walkerton on Jan. 18. When you play Walkerton you know that they will play all game long and will never quit till the buzzer goes. The boys were coming off a long Liftlock Tourney weekend and took a while to get rid of the bus legs. After regulation time the boys squeaked out a 1-0 victory.

Game 2 switched the scene to Listowel. The coaching staff wanted the boys to come out with more jump, and that the did. With a relentless forecheck the team had a 4-0 lead after one period. Problem was that the boys forgot that you have to play three periods of hockey and let Walkerton back in the game. Walkerton closed the score to 4-3 after two complete. Once again the boys showed that they can shut down the other team with good solid defensive play. Listowel wins 6-3.

Game 3 was in Walkerton again on Fri Jan 29th. The Listowel team had one thing in mind going into Game 3 "end this thing NOW". The boys came out flying with lots of pressure in the offensive end and some better play in there own end. Once again in Walkerton the officiating was questionable and the boys found themselves killing alot of penalties. But after playing 3 very solid periods of hockey the boys came away with a 3-0 victory and a 3-0 series sweep of the Capitals.

With this win in puts the boys into the All Ontario quarter finals.

Next up for the team will be the winner of Mitchell and Goderich.

Keep up the hard work.
