Cyclones take 2-0 Series Lead
The midget AE’s battled to a 4-1 victory over Mitchell in game 2 of their best of 5 series

Listowel travelled to Mitchell last Wednesday night for game 2 of there WOAA playoff series. The game again featured 2 evenly match teams take turns controlling the play at times during the 1st period but neither could solve the others goaltending. Ben Verkley would hit the game sheet 1st as he stripped the puck from a Mitchell defender then went in and made no mistake giving the Cycs the 1-0 lead. The goal seemed to spark the local boys as they increased the pressure throughout the 2nd and where again rewarded when Devon Elg converted the Verkley and Justin Bauman pass. Heading into the 3rd with a 2-0 led was anything but save and Mitchell proved it, as they came out flying. The Meteors scored once and had 2 other great scoring chances in their 1st 2 shifts of the 3rd period but Ryan Hak would stand tall preserving the 2-1 lead. The Cycs weathered the early Meteor shower and then started to regain some momentum but it would Mitchell's goalie turns to shine as he turned away 3 great scoring chances by the Cycs. However mid-way through the 3rd Verkley would tally his 2nd of the game on a wrap around (assist Bauman). Dustin Langer would later convert the Jason Hollinger pass giving the Cycs the 4-1 victory and the 2-0 series lead.

Cycs Coach Jerry Rozendal was impressed with the teams effort noting “I think that might be one of the better games we played in terms of positions and moving the puck” Game 3 is Sunday night at 8:30 in Listowel.
