The AE Cyclones finished their series with Mitchell Sunday night with a 7-2 victory.
A balanced and tenacious offense proved to be too much for Mitchell as the AE’s swept Mitchell in the 1st round of playoffs. The Cycs jumped out to a 2-0 led in the 1st period on goals from Adison Alexander and Cory George but to the Meteors credit they didn’t quite. A late 1st period goal and then another early in the 2nd by Mitchell would knot the game 2 apiece. The hometown boys showed great character as they would regain the momentum on goals by Dustin Langer and George (his 2nd of the game) giving the Cycs the 4-2 led heading into the 3rd. The 3rd period was all Cycs as their efforts where rewarded 3 more times on goals by Devon Elg, Langer (2nd of the game) and Justin Bauman. Picking up assists on the night where Brady Buchanan, Matt Wilken, Drew Hicks, Ben Verkley, Jason Hollinger, Elg and Bauman.
Team notes: Over the course of this series all 15 skaters hit the score sheet at some point. This balanced attack, along with good positioning and puck movement where the key to the team’s success. The Cycs now await the winner of the Saugeen Shores-Huntsville series.
