Cycs prove to be Road Warriors

The Bantam Cyclones are heading into the SilverStick on a winning note having posted 3 road victories this past week over Milverton, Minto and Mitchell.

The young Cycs continue to improve as they recorded 3 impressive road wins this week. On Sunday night they travelled to Milverton and walked away with a convincing 8-0 victory. Tyler Hak led the way offensively notching a hat trick and adding 2 assists. Andrew Gooding added a pair of goals, while Nate Dietz, Blake Buchanan and Keaton Willis rounded out the scoring. Dishing out helpers on the night where Dietz (2), Willis (2), Riley Thompson (2) and Broedy Karelse.

Monday night the young men where in Harriston to face the Mad Dogs in what was a hard fought 3-1 victory. Minto was looking for some redemption from an earlier season loss but the speed & puck moving skills of the Cycs proved to be too much as 2 3rd period goals by Gooding secured the 3-1 victory. This game featured some great defensive teamwork and goaltending by the Cycs. Despite an aggressive Mad Dog attack the defense core of McMurren, McKee, Buchanan, Hall & Fletcher stood tall, couple that with the timely goal-tending of Tyler Robinson and you have a recipe for victory. Caleb Warren picked up the other Cycs goal with Karelse, Riley Conners & McKee grabbing assists on the night.

Thursday night saw the local lads travel down Hwy 23 to face Mitchell in a much anticipated meeting. The visiting Cycs came out flying and if not for some good goaltending by the Meteors the Cycs could have put this one out of reach early. But as it turns out they could only muster 1 first period goal by Gooding. Undaunted the Cycs continue the pressure in the 2nd and where eventually rewarded 3 more times as Conners, Hak & Willis found the back of the net. The 3rd period saw more of the same Cyclone domination as the young Cycs notched 4 more goals on route to an 8-1 victory. Graeden Geiger, Warren, Dietz & Willis where the scorers while Gooding(2), Karelse, Warren, Blake Laidlaw, Buchanan, Fletcher & Hall picked up helpers. Steven Gottfried had another solid game in net calmly turning away any scoring chances Mitchell could muster.

It should be noted that the Cycs are again on a bit of a roll defensively allowing only 5 goals in their last 6 games. However the Cycs will be in tough in the Kincardine SilverStick as they have 3 tough games against BCH, Ayr and Oro, but these young men have proven all year if they come to play they can compete with anyone.
