Notes
An all round improvement by everyone. A game of hustling, forechecking, and improved defensive play lead to a tie game. We took the lead early in the first on a goal by Bo from Dustin and Brett before Drayton would tie the score before the end of the first. Early in the second Drayton would capitalize on a breakdown in our own end but a few minutes afer Jonathan would score from Chloe and Brett on a powerplay to tie the game again. A turnover at their blueline would lead to a breakaway powerplay goal but 30 seconds later we would again equalize when Dustin would bang one home from Brett and Cullen on some great forechecking. With 5 minutes left in the third Jonathan would bury another on an excellent shot to the top corner, assists to Chloe and Josh. We continued our agressive play but unfortunately we got a penalty with just over two minutes left leaving us shorthanded. Some great defensive play held Drayton at check for the first half of the powerplay but a Drayton player broke free at the blueline at put one in top corner to make the final a 4-4 tie. Final shots were 15-14 for Drayton but this was more like the team that we were coaching through the first half of the season. When asked, all the kids stated that they were tired at the end of the game and we told them that is how they should feel after an excellent hardworking game every time. Let's keep it up going into the playoffs.
