Cyclones play great Minto Tournament
The Listowel Novice LL Cyclones have progressed every time the team has stepped on the ice. The team showed that they can play with any team this past weekend in the Minto Tounament.

The young cyclones entered the Minto tournament with a 7-2 record on the season (both losses to undefeated Mt Forest). The first challenge was Arthur. The cyclones came out flying and had a lot of scoring chances early in the game but the strong Arthur goalie held Arthur close. Listowel carried a 2-1 lead into the second period and kept the pressure on all second period long. Forward coaches Sean Hudson and Nathan Bramhill did a great job of getting the forwards to move the puck across ice and this showed in the third. Listowel blazed 4 goals into the Arthur net in the period and finished with a 7-1 victory.

Goals in the game went to Nikki Eaton (first of the season), Carter Coombs, Jacob Drager, Mika Bolognone and Chet Hudson with the hat trick. Assists were Bret Smith and Carter Coombs with a pair, Sara Reading, Tayttum Bramhill and Maddox Brennan.

The second game fitted the cycs against a very evenly matched St.Mary's team. This game was end to end and the St.Mary's squad put a lot of pressure on the Listowel defence during the first two periods. Young call up goalie Connor Dinglestad stood tall in the net (even though he is 12" shorter than the crossbar) with numerous great saves.

In the third period the young cycs put the pressure back on St. Mary's and kept the play in the opposition end. The defensive coaches John Vesnauver and Alex Coombs got the defence of Sara Reading, Colin Williams, Liam Huber, Brayden Coombs and Matt Vesnauver settled down in the third and all five did a great job of holding the play inside the opposition zone. Listowel loss 5-4. Great game!

Goal scorers in this game were Jacob Drager with two, Dakota Barfoot  and Mika Bolognone. Assists went to Tayttum Bramhill with two, Nikki Eaton, Sara Reading and Jacob Drager.

As a coach I have been extremely happy with the progress of the team. This team works very hard and has done what we practice during the games.

Great weekend players and parents, had a lot of fun. Melissa there will be a lot more knots in your stomach in the future.
