Great work by....
..the kids and the Coaches during our most recent games and Tournament.
From what we’ve seen over the past couple weekends:
· we continue to get better at getting the puck off the boards and the kids are beginning to anticipate this. The anticipation of what is going to happen and moving to the open ice where the puck is going to go vs where the puck is. This is the end goal of this process and appears we are getting there.
· Noticed they are doing face-offs in each end and our kids have not done this to date. Not something we feel we need to use up important practice time on as it’s easy to learn and the kids will learn it very quickly “on the fly.”
· Our work on the skating component is really paying dividends right now as we are winning the races to the puck, creating and defending scoring chances.
· Myles and Connor have really played well in net and their work at the Saturday Goalie Clinic and work with Ty Robinson every other Wednesday is very apparent.
· Coaches are doing a good job of “coaching” the kids on the bench and in the rooms prior to the games. This will help out with teaching the faceoff line ups, banking off boards vs shooting all the way down the ice, anticipating the bank off the boards, positional play, etc.
We will continue to work on the stopping component (stopping both ways is a required skill going forward out of this age group), passing, stickhandling with the puck, and of course skating for the next few weeks of practices.
You've been a great group of Parents/Kids and wanted to thank you for your attendance at practices--as we talk about with the kids at the begining of each of our practices: If you practice hard, the games are easy!
