December 4, 2011 Game
If anyone missed this Sunday’s game between Listowel and BCH, they missed an enormous display of raw determination by the Novice Rep team........

Period 1 and 2 had non-stop, end-to-end play that had even some fans gasping for their breath.  Scoring went back and forth, and the game was tied 2-2 going into the 3rd period.  I didn’t think Pittsburgh had traded Sidney Crosby to Detroit to be on the same line with Pavel Datsyuk, but Carter Servais and Carter Coombs made several plays together that had fans talking about the resemblance these young players have with their NHL idols.

If I didn’t know any better, I would think Carter Servais, and Chet Hudson had been practicing with Sidney Crosby as he rehabbed from his concussions for the past 10 months.  That is the only logical explanation of what the crowd saw in today’s game.  Both goals by Carter and Chet showed signs of Sidney’s talent, and a bunch of Sid’s passion for the game.

Bret, Ben, Carter Coates, Mika, and Braden all kept BCH on their toes in the neutral zone, and when BCH made it through and put the pressure on in our end, Tate, Drew, Cole and Colin did their best to keep the shots to a minimum that Josh had to face.  The forwards also played a major role back checking, and were seen on several occasions helping the team out in front of Josh.

I thought Josh was born here in Ontario, but again he showed us today he could share Finland as his birthplace with Miikka Kiprusoff.  Kiprusoff won the Vesnia  Trophy in 2006 as the most valuable goalie in the NHL.  Josh, if he continues his hard work both on and off the ice, could find himself the most valuable goalie in the Novice Rep Division this year.

The 2-4 loss had a few players hanging their heads, but only for a short time.  Bad bounces will always be a part of this game, and BCH had a couple go their way.  One sure thing about bad bounces, they certainly take a back seat to the huge effort Listowel displayed against their opponents today.

Great work right up to the final buzzer guys.
