Novice Rep Father/Son Battle
The stage was set.....

The Rep team came into the game boasting a 2-game winning streak that they were not going to relinquish without a fight.  Fans lined the stands in anticipation of the much talked about showdown.  It was hard to believe there was no one taking admission money at the front door.  It would have been a huge fundraiser.  For the fathers, just getting from the dressing room to the ice surface took forever because of the screaming female fans wanting them to sign everything from photos to body parts.

Defence had Todd, Jeremy, Ken and Dean holding the blue line, and trying their best to support Josh every way possible.  Mike, John Mike, Brent, Chad, Fabian, Dragan, Shawn, and Nathan rounded out the offence.  Dwayne had the fans gasping for air time and time again with moves that a goalie half his age have a hard time recovering from.  Scoring went back and forth throughout the entire game.  The score at the end of regulation was 8-7 for the Rep team.  Even with a shoot-out the Dad’s could not solve the Brubacher mystery between the pipes.

No one got hurt.  Everyone had a terrific time.  A special thanks to Mike Coates for being Head-Of-Security for the Dad’s, and making sure nothing happened to them as they made their way out of the arena.

Thank you Val, Colleen, and Melissa for bravely stepping behind the bench and doing a job not many of could do, and controlling the little terrors.  Thank you Ken’s Mom for supplying cake for the players, and to Catherine for making sure it was distributed fairly.

Chad Servais, thank you for looking after the ice rental, the trophy, the money, and making sure everyone had a good time. Bret, Jen, and Mike thanks very much for graciously opening your home and welcoming everyone back.  The assortment of food and drink kept the parents entertained, and the kids did a wonderful job keeping the drywall and carpet in the same order as when they arrived.

I just have to find a team looking for someone with a skill-level not many people get the opportunity to witness.  Maybe a billiard team might be better suited to my playing style.

Thanks for a day all of us will not soon forget.
