The Bantam’s defense continues to shines as evident in posting back to back shut outs over Goderich 7-0 and Mt Forest 4-0

Sunday night the Cycs hosted Goderich in what promised to be a good game, as the two battled to a 1 goal game just a couple weeks ago. However tonight’s game would be dominated by a parade to the penalty box, as the officials assessed 23 minor penalties. The 1st period had a good pace to it with both teams exchanging opportunities but it would be Broedy Karelse who would get the Cycs on the board as his backhander found it’s way into the net (Caleb Warren & Matt Koch assisting). Just a few minutes later, while on the power-play, Keaton Willis, would snipe a shot to the top corner (Warren & Drew McKee assisting). Late in the 1st Cole Dannemann would give Listowel the 3 goal lead as he converted a nice feed from Brendan Hall. In the 2nd and 3rd periods the parade to the box would begin as both teams struggled with discipline. When the dust cleared Goderich would receive 13 minor penalties while Listowel had 8 (there were 2 penalties in the 1st). Despite this local lads did manage to score 4 more times, 1 in the 2nd (McKee unassisted) and 3 in the 3rd Karelse & Koch(2) with Warren and Parker Yungblut grabbing assists. Steve Gottfried was again solid in net as he earned the shutout in the 7-0 victory.

Tuesday night saw the Cycs travel to the new Mt Forest facility to face the Rams. The hometown Rams came out determined to end the streak and with some great defensive zone coverage managed to hold the Cycs off the board until half way through the 2nd period when Owen Bender tucked home a rebound (Warren & Koch assisting). In the 3rd period the Cycs seem to solve the Rams defense and Karelse would provide the offense scoring 3 times in the period (Warren & Blake Buchanan picked up assists). This night it would be Braeden Ellis’s turn in net to stymie the Mt Forest shooters as he collected the 4-0 shut out.

The team is working hard on preparing themselves for the Silverstick tourney and team defense continues to be the key. On Sunday night the Cycs host Seaforth which is their last game before what is sure to be the toughest test of the season... the Regional Silverstick
