Bantams eliminate Capitals in 1st Round
The bantam Cycs made short work of Walkerton in their 1st round of OMHA playoffs winning 3 straight in convincing manner.This series featured a well rested Cyc’s team facing an emotionally high Walkerton team who had just knocked off Goderich in a preliminary round. The 1st period of game 1 had some good pace with both teams getting some scoring chances however it would be the Cycs who would open the scoring with 2 goals in the period. From here the series would be all Listowel as their speed and scoring balance took their toll on the Capitals. The 1st game ended in a lopsided 15-0 Cycs victory. Game 2 was much of the same with a similar results as Listowel took this one 15-4. The 3rd game was a little more balanced as the Cycs only led 2-1 after the 1st but began to pull away as the game progressed, finishing with a 8-2 victory and the series sweep.
Give credit to the Walkerton team, as they continued to play hard throughout the series despite the score and didn’t result to any “hockey nonsense”. The Cycs next series should be a good one as they face Kincardine in the WOAA Finals.
