Reps Compete at Simcoe Tourny
The Midget Rep Cyclones traveled to Simcoe for the Boston Pizza Challenge Nov 4-6th, to get some solid action against some BB centers.

Friday night's game was well played by the Cyclones, out working the Port Hope team, and capitalizing on scoring chances to earn a 4-0 victory.  Mitchell Smith earned the shut-out, playing a very solid game when called upon.

Saturday morning's opponent was the host team from Simcoe. Throughout this game, the momentum shifted often, with both teams running into penalty issues & having good scoring opportunities. The Cyclones lead through much of the game and made a big push during the last minutes, however the end result was a 2-2 draw. Jesse Nethercott was in the Cyclone net, making numerous saves throughout the game to keep his team in the game.

In Saturday night's game, the Reps handed Tavistock a 4-0 victory, with a very lack-luster effort.  However, with the previous win & tie, the Cyclones were already guaranteed a semi-final spot on Sunday morning.

In the semi's against Glanbrook, the Reps got off to a great start, resulting in a 2-0 first period lead.  In the second, among many other chances, the Reps appeared to make it 3-0 on a power-play, only to have the goal disallowed. Then the turning point, a 5-3 short-handed goal by Simcoe.  Simcoe added another goal, to tie things after two periods.
The Cyclones then ran into penalty troubles in the 3rd period, resulting in 2 quick Simcoe goals.  Fighting back, the Reps were able to make it 4-3, until further penalties late in the period allowed Simcoe to score and make it a 5-3 final.  This was a tough loss for the team, which was emphasized when Glanbrook went on to win the tournament.
Overall, it was a solid effort from the team, which was a little short staffed with only 12 skaters.
The team has a few road games over the next week, in preparation for the upcoming Silverstick tournament Nov 20-27th in Wingham.
