Weekend Wrap-up
The team started the week-end off with a league game vs Durham on Friday night before venturing out to play in the Clifford Tournament on Saturday.

The game on Friday was a back and forth affair with our Listowel team coming out on the wrong side of a 2-1 score.  The game featured many opportunities turned away by both goaltenders.  We allowed the kids to try various positions during the game to let them find where they would like to play and are comfortable playing.

Clifford Tournament...

After a good nights rest, we played bright and early at 8am in Clifford vs Lucknow.  The kids came ready to play and posted a strong 7-1 victory.  Everyone was skating hard both ways, getting after the puck and doing a great job of clearing our own end as well.  After a hearty breakfast, our next round robin game was against Goderich at noon.  The kids started a little sluggish but picked it up as the game went on.  Unfortunately we could not manage to get more then one by their goalie and came up short, losing 3-1.  This meant we had to wait until after the 4:00pm game between Twin Centres and Goderich to see if we went on to the consolation final.  Everyone ventured home and waited for the call from coach Randy to see if our plus/minus would hold up.

Apparently Twin Centres beat Goderich (by less than 5 goals) meaning we finished second in our group and Randy advised everyone that we were in the B final.  Everyone rushed back to Clifford to face a strong Ayr team.  The kids played a strong game, but the early morning start appeared to catch up with them in the second half of the game.  We were down 1-0 after one and 3-0 after two.  The kids tried hard but just did not have enough left in the tank to mount a comeback in the third, falling by a final score of 5-0.

The B finalists team consisted of the following hard working kids:

Backstopping us with many fantastic saves during the tournament was Myles.

Our intimidating anchors of defense were Adam, Camden, Kora and Matt.

Our fearless, forechecking forwards were Justin Hamilton, Maddox (Mad Dog), Ty, Justin Houstin-Hines, Tyler, Ethan, Dominic, Sadie and Jayannth.

A great job by all and let's continue building off this.

See you at the rink.
