Playoffs Start with a Bang!
What excitement the kids provided this weekend during their first two playoff games.

Playoffs started on Friday night vs Minto.  We split the two games we played vs them during the season and this game was back and forth again.  Each team would manage to score only one during the 3 periods of play.  The goalies were keeping everything out with the Minto goalie stopping many of the great chances the kids generated.

This meant overtime was needed....

Early in the overtime session, Adam did a great job keeping the puck in at the blueline down to the corner.  Jayannth passed the puck out of the corner to a wide open Justin Hamilton who one-timed it into the bottom corner of the net to give the kids a much deserved 2-1 OT victory.

After a very early Saturday morning practice, the team was back in action Sunday in Durham.  We also split the season series with them, so the coaches knew we were in for another tight battle.  We would go up first early on, but Durham would battle back to tie the game in the second.  We went up again late in the second period only to have Durham tie the game midway through the third.   Regulation time would end with the 2-2 score meaning overtime was needed for the second game in a row.  There was an anxious moment a few minutes into the OT session with Myles managing to get the puck covered just as it was on the goal line.  On the ensuing faceoff in our end, Justin Hamilton was ready to provide the heroics again.  He tapped the puck forward by their centerman and took off.  He put the puck between their two defenseman and turn on the jets to go in on a breakaway with the Durham players skating hard to try to catch him.  As the Durham goalie went down, Justin shot the puck up and over him giving the kids another well deserved OT victory.

Lets keep up the great work but maybe try to win in regulation as I don't think the coaches and parents can handle too much more of this overtime excitement.

See you at the rink!
