Another 5 Games Completed
The Novice Cyclones have completed five exciting games of hockey in the last couple of weeks and came out with 3 wins and 2 tough losses.

In another game with BCH in the confines of the Hensall arena the team came out strong and ended the first in a 1-1 tie on a goal by Owen.  The second was not so kind as the kids had some lapses and were behind by a 6-3 margin after 2 periods.  Ben and Camden scored with Brayden picking up the lone assist.  The 3rd saw BCH score 5 more times to put the game out of reach with the 11-3 final.

The kids looked to bounce back the following Saturday with a game in Seaforth.  They did just that scoring two in the first and never looking back taking a 5-1 victory.  Carter Coombs had 2 goals and 2 assists, Caleb, Camden and Ty scored the other goals with Harrison an assist and Drew with 2 assists rounding out the scoresheet.  Coaches said there was some great forechecking in this game by a few of the kids.

The following weekend saw us play 3 games in three days starting with an exhibition game in Wallace vs the Lucknow squad.  The kids played a great game and came out with a 6-3 victory.  Caleb Arent lead the team with a hat-trick and Coombsy also had 2 goals and 2 assists.  Ben had the other goal while Drew and Brayden picked up lone assists on the night.

Saturday saw us travel to Goderich less a couple bodies but adding one back as Camden and Owen missed the game but Harrison Meulensteen filled in for the day.  The team pulled out a 3-2 victory on 2 goals by Coombsy and one by Ben.  The goals were assisted by Caleb (2), Coombsy, Carter Coates and Mr. Meulensteen (I believe he has one more career assist than his dad now).

Sunday we were back in town vs BCH and the kids came ready to play in this one.  This was one of the better games they have played this year with some fantastic shot blocking and backchecking to limit the scoring chances of the BCH big guns.  Unfortunately we still ended up on the short end of a 6-4 score but it was still a great game.  After going down 3-1 after the first and 4-1 after the second, the kids did not give up and scored 3 goals to tie the game at 4 apiece with 5 minutes remaining.  It would remain that way until just under 2 minutes left when BCH would score the eventual winner before adding an insurance marker before the end of the game.  Coombsy had a hat-trick and an assist, Drew and Brooke both with 2 assists and Ben with the 4th goal.  If the team keeps playing like this we can compete with any team we play.

Hopefully we can keep this momentum going and build on it heading into the remaining league games and SilverStick.

See you at the rink!
