Novice Regular Season Finishes Up
The Novice Rep team wound up their regular season with their own version of "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly".

Coming off their Lucknow Tournament Championship on the Saturday, the team was flat from start to finish on the Sunday, suffering an ugly 6-1 loss to a Blyth-Brussels team they had just beat in the tournament a day earlier.  Carter Coombs got the only goal for the home team.

With 10 days between their scheduled games, the team then picked up an exhibition match with the Kincardine Kinucks.  The team played well from start to finish in this one and came out with a 5-3 victory.  Ben Nauta had 2 goals, Brayden with 1 goal and 2 assists, Caleb with 1G, 1A, Coombsy with the last goal and single assist to Carter Coates and Owen.

Then came a Wednesday night tilt with Mitchell.  The team did not come ready to play and gave up 6 first period goals to on the way to an ugly 7-1 defeat.  Caleb scored the lone marker from Ben and Camden.

Saturday the team traveled to Goderich and after a scoreless 1st period, the teams traded 3 goals each in the 2nd.  Coombsy with 2, Owen with 1 and assists to Ben and Caleb.  In the 3rd the team would go down 5-3 before Carter Coombs would score again from Ben to close the gap to 5-4, but that was as close as we got.

Another exhibition game vs Twin Centre Stars was in store on Sunday. the team seemed uninterest from start to finish suffering a "bad" 4-0 loss.

Now back to the "good" the next Wednesday with a return engagement with the Mitchell Meteors.  The team came out and played as a team from the drop of the puck and earned a hard fought 3-2 victory.  Owen, Coombsy and Ben scored with assists to Coombsy and Drew.  Ethan made many great saves when called upon and the team played a complete game of hockey to finally beat the Meteors.

Continuing with the "good", the team traveled to Blyth on a blustery Saturday morning to avenge the bad loss suffered a few weeks earlier.  The team jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but some questionable calls and 2 power play goals later, the score was 3-2.  The team managed to buckle down and held off the Blyth-Brussels charge for the 3-2 victory.  Coombsy had 2 goals and an assist, Owen with the other goal and Camden with an assist.  Ethan again came through with big saves when required.

The final game of the regular season was a home game against the Seaforth Stars.  The team again came ready to play in this game and had a lot of opportunities to score but were constantly turned away by the Seaforth goalie.  We managed to score 1 before the end of the first and 2 more in the second to lead 3-1 after 2.  The kids managed to outscore the opposition 4-1 in the 3rd to end the regular season with a 7-2 victory.  Coombsy had 2G, 2A, Caleb 2G, 1A, Camden 2G, Harrison 1G (his first of the season) and assists going to Logan, Brooke, Ben and Owen.

The team must now wait until the other teams finish their regular season during this last week and the playoff schedule is set.  They will get in a few practices and some exhibition games and hope to keep this momentum going into the playoffs.
