Listowel Looks to End Mitchell's Winning Streak
The Atom AE team were preparing for a storm Sunday afternoon with another match up against the Mitchell Meteors.

Mitchell was looking to improve their record against the Cyclones to 2-0 on their home ice.  The atmosphere during the first minutes of play resembled that of a NHL playoff game.  Our starting line-up of Seth, Maddox, John, Emma and Brayden worked on keeping the puck in Mitchell's end, producing numerous scoring chances.  That got the visiting crowd into the game early, and had the Mitchell coaches scratching their hair-challenged foreheads.
Listowel rang up the first goal of the game with a sweet shot from Jordan assisted by Kris.  Listowel played most of the second period between the blue lines, until the coaching staff convinced them that putting the puck in Mitchell's end increases our scoring chances and runs the opposition down.  Bret, Connor and Owen kept pressing down to Mitchell's end with amazing consistency throughout the second period.  It wasn't until the third period that Mitchell snuck one by a sprawling Lucas.  There would be no shutout for the Jr B prospect, but Lucas stood tall and did not let the goal faze him.
Colin had time to reflect after he found himself resting in the penalty box for 2 minutes early in the game, this allowed him to re-focus on taking the puck over the body.  This caused frustration for the Mitchell players and resulted in Colin taking a hard hit in Listowel's end, drawing yet another Mitchell penalty.  Mika and Nikolas showed great teamwork throughout the game, and their persistence showed in a scuffle in front of Mitchell's net, resulting in the 2nd goal for Listowel which was fed to Mika from Nikolas.  The team leaned on Lucas in the final minutes and was not disappointed as he rose to the challenge helping to end the game with a 2-1 win for Listowel.
The impending return of Cole will give the coaches yet another weapon to insert into the improving defensive play.  The coaches and players are starting to really gel and the season is promising to be an exciting one for players and fans alike.
