Zurich Thunder Look To Postpone Christmas
Known famously for their quaint shops, the Museum of Art, the Rietberg Museum and of course the panoramic mountain views; wait, wrong Zurich.  The Listowel Cyclones didn't play Zurich, Switzerland, we played the Zurich Thunder.

Zurich brings with them a headstrong attitude that boasts a 1-1 record against Listowel.  One thing about a losing streak, it is sure to come to an end sometime.  Listowel's current win-loss record is certainly not indicative of the effort the team has put forth in recent weeks.
Coach Josh threw darts again to mix up the lines in search of the missing chemistry (just kidding about the darts), however the Coach and his staff met in an undisclosed location and worked long into the night for the next game plan.
After several minutes into the 1st period, fresh back from his family trip to Italy, Mika darted down the ice and fooled the goalie and put one a way, just like he fooled his Mom for another scone.  Not that long after, Seth buried a sweet one to give Listowel a 2-0 lead.  Going into the 2nd period, Emma, John and Brayden kept hammering the pucks around the corners which enabled Niko, Kristopher and Owen to Keep the puck pressure in Zurich's end.  Bret had been flying all around the ice and finally the magic stick work gave him a reason to raise his arms in celebration as Bret not only scored one, but indeed twice in the 2nd period.  Standing strong in Listowel's end was Connor and Colin, making certain Lucas wasn't over worked.
As the 2nd drew to a close, Owen took one last drink on the bench then headed out with one thing on his mind, he let a bullet go that had the Zurich net-minder wondering how the puck got passed him.  Ahead with a 5 goal lead, Maddox, Cole and Jordan never let up the constant bombardment of shots on net, with several scoring opportunities narrowly missing. With 3 minutes left in the 3rd, Zurich's constant penetration finally put a puck past a sprawling Lucas.  Lucas has been showcasing his cat-like reflexes, stellar glove hand and toe saves that seem to reach the corner of the rink, needing just a bit more offence to get him back to the win column.
His solid net minding once again gave Listowel the confidence to continue with the fast breaks and the team was able to get an early lead, which gave Lucas a little breathing room.  Handing Zurich a 5-1 loss is an early Christmas present for the team, coaches and the parents.
Great job everyone...
