Two League Wins for Midgets
The Reps solidified their hold on second place this past week, with a 4-1 win over BCH and a 5-2 win over Walkerton.

At home on Sunday the Cyclones got off to a good start against the BCH team, and managed to control the play throughout, allowing the lone goal late in the third period. Scoring for the Cycs were Jacob Askin assisted by Cole Danneman & Andy Gooding, Joel Hartung from Cory Wilson & Alex Balthes, Tyler Hak assisted by Justin Miller & Drew McKee, and Connor Johnston from Kyle Sippel & Brendan Hall.
Steven Gottfried got the win in net, backing up the solid play of Balthes, Sippel, Blake Buchanan, Hall & Miller on defence.

On Monday night a short staffed team travelled to Walkerton to play a hard nosed Hawks team. From the opening face-off, Walkerton pressured the Reps, with hard forechecking and hitting. Outstanding play by Drew Anger in net helped sustain the attack, and allowed the Cycs an opportunity to get into the game.
Askins got the team on the board first, attacking the net and putting away a rebound, for the only goal of the 1st period. Assists went to Johnson & Miller.
In the second, Hak fed a pass to Reese Johnson, who then dazzled his way to the net to bury a back-hand shot. Balthes drew the second assist. Gooding made it 3-0 on great rush, that ended with the puck going in the top shelf of the net. Assisting on the play were Ben Rothell & Hall.
A tired squad took to the ice for the third period, with a plan to get the puck deep and keep a defensive mindset.
Cole McKee finished off a nice passing play with Wilson & Gooding , to make it a 4-0 game.
Walkerton started to press a little harder and managed to get on the board. However, Hartung responded shortly after to make it a 5-1 game. Sippel assisted on the play. Walkerton scored another with a couple minutes to play, to make the final 5-2 for Listowel.
The Reps put in very solid efforts in both games, as we battle injuries and illness.

The team is now off until Saturday, Jan 5th, at home against Wingam @ 7:00pm.
Then wrap up the regular season in Mithell on Monday, Jan 6th.
