Strong Start for Peewee Rep
After taking a lopsided loss to a strong Mitchell team in the final pre-season game, the Peewee Rep team has rebounded with a good start to the regular season.
Winning a close battle with Kincardine, beating them 2 – 1, goaltending and defensive play was very strong in helping with the win. In our second season game we travelled to Walkerton and although holding a majority of the play, we managed only to walk away with a 1 – 1 tie. Strong back checking during this game limited Walkerton on the number of chances they had and our goaltender turned away all but one of the shots he faced. Our third game of the season saw us play Seaforth who has a similar record to our team so far this season with a lopsided loss to Mitchell and a couple of close games with other teams. Our offensive side of the game finally kicked in scoring 7 goals to take the game by a final score of 7 -1. An unlucky bounce off a defenseman’s stick saw the only goal go in our our tender.
We have a few more league warm up games before heading into our first tournament in Mitchell on the weekend of the 9th of November. Hopefully the defensive side of the game can continue to prevail while building on the offensive out break we saw in our last game vs Seaforth.
