Our weekend tournament in Mitchell left us with 2 wins, a tie and a loss in the semi finals.
Game #1 Friday against Wallaceburg was a back and forth match-up that ended in a 2-2 tie. The 1st period ended with Wallaceburg scoring first and then 20 seconds later Keegan L scoring for us. 2nd period powerplay action had Jake Z buzzing down the ice passing the puck to Blair J who let off a shot that rebounded out for Chet H(AP) to pick up and score. Unfortunately, in the 3rd period the Cyclones gave up the tying goal to Wallaceburg.
Game #2 Friday after some Beef on a Bun and a little rest the boys were ready to play Tavistock. Jordan D started the scoring on shorthanded round about shot. Chet H. helped us again scoring on a mad dash. 2nd period penalties were fought off by the Cyc's until the last seconds when Tavistock finally hit the mark shorthanded. The 3rd period both teams came alive Keegan L scoring and then Cullen E hitting the net with a shot from the blue line. Tavistock took advantage of a powerplay to score their 2nd goal and then scoring again shortly after. A well fought 4-3 win for the boys
Game #3 Saturday afternoon was a match-up with Saugeen Shores. The Storm scored right away but that did not keep Blair J from pounding one in 31 seconds later. Penalties were a plenty for both teams especially as the game progressed. After sitting for 2 mins Jake Z. stepped out to put the Cycs ahead in the 2nd period. 3rd period action saw some skillful passing and a lot of attempts, but the only goal scored was by Sage B as he shot from the blue line, through a mass of bodies. Travis B had a great game in net.
Game #4-Semi final match-up against Mt.Brydges was a battle that ended in a 5-2 loss. 1st period action had Mt B scoring both their goals on powerplays. Keegan L scored on the first shot on Mt.B's goalie. Another powerplay goal for Mt.Brydges in the 2nd and a goal by Blair J held the game close. It was not meant to be for the boys as the 3rd period had the stripes assessing penalties to us and Mt.Brydges dominatiing.
