Solid Showing at Silverstick
The Reps competed in the Regional Silverstick tournament, held in Wingham over November 17th through to the 24th, narrowly missing out with advancing to the semi-finals.
In game #1 against Walkerton, the Cyclones got off to a great first period start, taking a 3-0 lead. Tyler Hak opened the scoring, streaking down the left side, receiving a pass from Cole McKee. On a similar play, Riley Conners stormed down the wing, and finished off a passing play which included McKee and Hak. Bryce Fletcher scored the third goal, as he jumped on a juicy rebound, off a Andrew Gooding shot.

The Cycs kept things going in the second, adding a couple more goals. Sitting in the slot, Conners found the back of the net again, with assists going to Hak & McKee. Mike McMurren rounded out the scoring with a beautiful wrist shot to the top corner. Owen Bender and Gooding earned assists on the play.

Walkerton managed to get one by Steven Gottfried in the third, as the final was 5-1.

Game #2 was against a good South Huron team, who had lost their first game and was fighting to stay alive in the tournament. The Cycs once again completed all it’s scoring in the first & second period, and then held off a late attack to earn a 3-2 victory.

Gooding opened the scoring in the first, on a strong second effort. McMurren tallied an assist on the play. In the second period Riley Thompson scored a pair of goals, one on a goal crease passing play, set up by Drew McKee and Ben Rothwell. The other came off a shot from the circle hash mark, on a pass from Blake Buchanan.

Mathew Koch & Reese Johnson contributed with strong fore-checking and defensive efforts. As well, the defence group of Cole Fletcher, Brendan Hall, D. McKee, Bender, Rothwell & Buchanan put in a strong effort to secure the win. Gottfried earned has second win of the tournament.

Heading into game #3 with a 2-0 record, the Cycs new a win would seal there fate, but also a close loss would allow for a Sunday wildcard birth.

The Ayr squad got off to a great start, scoring a pair of goals within the first 3 minutes of play. This made it very difficult for the Reps to overcome, especially as the strong Ayr squad kept attacking and out working its opponent. Scoring a third goal early in the second, Ayr was able to fend off any/all the Listowel efforts, and earned a 3-0 win.

Bantam goalie Nick O’Grady came into the game half way through. O’Grady provide a strong effort, holding Ayr off the scoreboard.

At 2-1, this left the Cycs looking for a tie between Dunville and Twin Center, to get past Dunville for the wildcard. Late in the third, Twin Center managed to tie the game at 2-2. However, Twin Center needed to win, in order to have a wildcard chance. They pulled their goalie in the final minute, and Dunville managed to pot a full ice length shot, with 14 seconds remaining on the clock. Listowel was eliminated.

The Reps are back home on Wed, Dec 4th @ 8:30 vs Mount Forest, and then head to Parry Sound for a December 6-8th tournament.
