Red Rallies Late For Win Over West Grey
Listowel Novice LL Red out-worked the West Grey Warriors on Saturday to earn their most difficult win of the season.

Red opened the scoring late in the first period as Finn Molenhuis took the feed from Noah Hiemstra and lifted the puck over the West Grey goaltender and into the top of the net.

The Warriors answered back in the following frame before Red gained the lead for good with less than two minutes left in regulation, as some hard digging by Warner Hurst and Spencer Henhoeffer lead to a tally from linemate Nehemiah Dyck.

Noah Szasz kept the game at 2-1 as he turned away one of the top offensive teams again and again, picking up Player of the Game honours while lowering his goals against average to a miniscule 1.33.

Szasz was aided by a monumental effort from his D-corps, as Molenhuis, Brynn Berfelz, and Oliver Hershey helped to kill off a pair of penalties.  Aiding the defensive effort were centers Kole Schiestel and Grayson Matheson, who both employed speed to transition the game from their own end and into West Grey’s time and time again.

Now at 5-0-1, Red looks to remain undefeated with a Tuesday tilt in Listowel vs. the Howick Hornets with puck drop set for 6:30 pm.
