Red Records Second Shutout of the Season
Listowel Novice LL Red satisfied their hunger for another win with a donut on Wednesday, shutting out Listowel Black, 2-0.

Red opened the scoring early in the first period after some solid forechecking by Finn Molenhuis and Noah Hiemstra led to a goal by Nehemiah Dyck.

The score remained that way until the final four minutes of the third.  That’s when defensemen Kole Shiestel picked up a loose puck and tucked it behind Black’s netminder.

The puck was turned over after some hard work by Grayson Matheson, Spencer Henhoeffer and Ruby Hillier.  The trio continued their solid two-way play, with Henhoeffer’s backchecking efforts earning him the Player of the Game medallion (and a “special mention” on the scoresheet).

Noah Szasz was solid once more, turning away several breakaway chances to earn his second shutout of the year.

He, of course, was helped out by some solid blue line play from the tandem of Shiestel and Brynn Berfelz, along with their cohorts, Warner Hurst and Oliver Hershey, who are becoming better known to their fan base as the “Bash Brothers”.

Now at 9-1-1, Red shoots for win number 10 on Saturday as they take on the Drayton Defenders at noon.
