Black Bested By Meteors
Listowel Novice LL Black took their first loss of the season, dropping a tight contest to the Mitchell Meteors 1 by a score of 3-1.

After a scoreless first period, Cole Parsons wristed home the opening goal of the afternoon.  Assists on Listowel’s lone marker went to his fellow winger, Linc Lannin, and defenseman Blake McTavish.

The Meteors responded with a goal before the period was out and added a couple of late tallies in the third to cap the scoring.

They perhaps could have had more if it weren’t for the timely saves of Koen Martin and some strong play in their own end by defenders Oliver Hershey, Brynn Berfelz and Warner Hurst.

While Listowel was only able to get one puck over the goal line, they still had a bunch of chances as their passing game showed improvement from a week earlier.

Wingers Kenton Heathers, Rory Magee, Fiona Johnson and Lucas Kuepfer did well to get pucks to the Mitchell net and help protect the house in their own end.  Centers Zack Brooks and Noah Hiemstra were strong on the puck at both ends and came close to scoring on a couple of occasions as well.

Black will look to get back over the .500 mark on Thursday as they battle the BCH Ice Dogs in Clinton at 6:30 pm.
