Listowel Novice LL Black came close to tying Thursday’s game
in Clinton but fell short by a final score of 3-2.
Both Listowel tallies came in the same minute of the third period and both came off the stick of Noah Hiemstra. Fellow center Zack Brooks nearly netted a pair as well but drew iron on two occasions.
Black was able to battle back as the wing units of Kenton Heathers, Fiona Johnson, Lucas Kuepfer, Linc Lannin, Rory Magee and Cole Parsons played a solid transition game.
The defensive tandems of Warner Hurst, Oliver Hershey, Brynn Berfelz and Blake McTavish also did well to keep the puck away from in front of their net for much of the evening.
The final score may have leaned more towards the Ice Dogs if not for netminder Koen Martin who made several big breakaway saves.
The Listowel squad came close to potting the even goal with the goalie out for the final two minutes but were unable to push a third tally over the line.
