Black Out-Muscled In Mitchell
Listowel Novice LL Black had their four-game winning streak snapped with a loss to the Meteors in Mitchell on Saturday.

Mitchell jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but before the first period was out, Rory Magee cut Listowel’s deficit in half with a nifty wrister off the post and in.

That was as close as Black came though as the Meteors dug in and scored a half-dozen more goals in the middle frame.

Not giving up, the visitors dug in a bit deeper in the third period and finished the afternoon affair off with five goals.  Adding to Magee’s marker, Cole Parsons netted a pair and Blake McTavish and Noah Hiemstra each added one of their own.

Fellow forwards, Linc Lannin and Zack Brooks picked up helpers along the way and the defensive tandems of Brynn Berfelz, Fiona Johnson, Oliver Hershey and Warner Hurst helped turn the moment of the final frame the way of Listowel, as they did well to keep the puck out of harms way and get it moving towards Mitchell’s end of the rink.

Koen Martin came up with a number big saves on the day as he saw more rubber than he had faced over the last four games combined.

Kenton Heathers (Fortnite fingers) and Lucas Kuepfer (birthday cake belly) were on short-term IR for the afternoon and will hopefully be back in Black’s lineup for the club’s next test, November 24 in Seaforth at 4 pm.
