Listowel Novice LL Black put forth one of their best efforts of the season in Mitchell on Wednesday.

The visitors started the game with just eight skaters and were at times down to six as injuries and sickness made their way into Listowel's lineup.

Even still, Black battled hard enough to hold the league's highest scoring team to just four goals while popping in two of their own.

Goaltender Koen Martin came up with big saves on multiple occasions as Mitchell's offense pressed hard against a fatigued Listowel squad.

Helping him keep the Meteors at bay were the defensive unit of Warner Hurst, Oliver Hershey and Brynn Berfelz, who used their combined strength, speed and skill to keep clearing pucks from in front of their net.

Listowel's forward staff was limited to Rory Magee, Noah Hiemstra, Fiona Johnson, Lucas Kuepfer and Cole Parsons.  The crew did well to keep Mitchell to the outside and managed to capitalize on a couple of chances on the offensive side, with both tallies dropped off by the number 15 car that is the CP rail.

Black will have the chance to reload again on Saturday with a game against the Drayton Defenders at 12:45 pm back at the SKMC.
