Listowel Novice LL Black made a late push but were unable to net the tying goal in a 3-2 loss to Listowel White on Tuesday.

White came out strong and piled up a 3-0 lead in the first four minutes of the game.

Black then settled in a and used a Zack Brooks blast to make it a 3-1 contest heading into the middle frame.

After a scoreless second, Black controlled the pace for most of the third and came to within one of their closest rival in the middle of the frame.

It was defenseman Oliver Hershey who potted the second goal as he finished off an end-to-end dash.

He and his partner, Warner Hurst, along with their fellow d-pairing of Brynn Berfelz and Blake McTavish, did well to keep White to the outside in the latter two periods.  And when they couldn't, goalie Koen Martin came up with several big saves to keep his club in the game.

Blacks forwards worked hard all game too.

Linc Lannin, Kenton Heathers, Noah Hiemstra, Rory Magee, Fiona Johnson, Lucas Kuepfer and Cole Parsons all showed much resolve after the team got down early, realizing that they'd have to match White's work ethic and did so the rest of the way.

Now with all players back in the lineup, Black will wait with anticipation until next Tuesday when they will waltz with White once more.  Puck drop at the SKMC is set for 6:30 pm.
