Red Clips Falcons for 1-0 Win
Listowel Atom Red defeated the Hanover Falcons by a score of 1-0 on Saturday, doing so with their best team effort of the season.

Netminder Ryan Reath played perfectly between the pipes, using some huge gloves saves and a sprawling breakaway stab late in the game to preserve the victory.

With only nine skaters available, Red's only chance was to rotate some players through both defense and offense, and the coaching staff was very impressed by the willingness of all involved to do so - and do quite well.

Oliver Hershey, Brynlee Binning and Lucas McLeod were the mainstays on defense, and they performed admirably with many extended shifts along the way.

They were helped out by Warner Hurst, who dropped back several times to flex his might on D while simultaneously giving his mates a rest.

Wingers Ruby Hillier, Kingston Powell and Blake McTavish all did their best to keep the play in Hanover's end for entire shifts at a time, as they forechecked hard and forced many turnovers, one of which led to McTavish's early third period goal to break the 0-0 stalemate.

Centers Owen Alexander and Noah Hiemstra used their speed all morning long, providing plenty of offensive support while also making sure to backcheck and prevent any odd-man rushes.

Red was down two of its forwards as Linc Lannin (photo day smile strain) and Nehemiah Dyck (tallguyitis) were both unavailable.  The team hopes to have them back in the lineup for their next game on Tuesday, December 3 at the Palmerston Arena at 6:30 pm.
