Red Downed In Durham
Listowel Atom Red had their six-game winning streak ended with a 6-4 loss to the West Grey Warriors on Saturday.

Red opened the scoring in the first period as Noah Hiemstra buried a wrist shot four minutes into the game.

On the next shift, Linc Lannin doubled Listowel's lead, banging in a rebound for his first goal of the campaign.

Durham was not to be denied, however, scoring a pair of goals before Red answered back with another, this time from Owen Alexander, who ended a high-pressure shift as he and his wingers, Warner Hurst and Kingston Powell, hemmed in the Warriors for a full minute.

West Grey took a one-goal lead again in the first minute of the final period, but Listowel once again had an answer, after Ruby Hillier and Nehemiah Dyck worked the puck out of their own end to set up Hiemstra for a breakaway and his second tally of the afternoon.

Goaltender Ryan Reath faced more shots than he had in the last month combined, and while he repeatedly made key saves, the Warriors managed to get a late pair of goals for the 6-4 win.

Listowel's defensive tandems of Lucas McLeod, Brynlee Binning, Oliver Hershey and Blake McTavish played well in front of Reath, using their speed as best they could to match the Warrior attackers.

Red will have the next week to regroup, ahead of a Saturday contest against Walkerton at 4:15 pm at SKMC.
