Red Earns Tie In First Playoff Contest
Listowel Atom Red played to a 2-2 draw against the West Grey Warriors on Sunday.

The Warriors opened the scoring in the first period but Red answered back to tie the game.

Owen Alexander tallied late in the second period as he was set up by Nehemiah Dyck. The centerman then scored again just two minutes into the third, but the lead was short lived as West Grey scored on the following shift.

Both teams kept even through 10 minutes of overtime, and split the two points to start round-robin postseason play. Red worked hard to come away with the tie, as they killed off a pair of penalties in the extra period.

Goaltender Ryan Reath kept his team close all afternoon, helped by some solid defensive coverage from Lucas McLeod, Warner Hurst, Blake McTavish and Brynlee Binning.

Listowel's remaining forwards, Noah Hiemstra, Ruby Hillier, Linc Lannin and Logan Card came up with a bunch of chances, hitting iron more than once.

Missing in action were Oliver Hershey and Kingston Powell, who were both dealing with teacherstrikeosis.

Red's next game is slated for 4:15 pm on Saturday vs. the Walkerton Capitals.
