Hello Midget LL Families
I hope everyone is staying healthy and safe in these uncertain times.

Due to the awards banquet being cancelled this season I am writing this post to recap the season and announce the award winners.

Thanks to Laurie Barfoot for managing this team;  I'm sure it wasn't easy with a first time coach.  Also thanks to Sherri Coombs for her help getting started at the coaches meeting and answering every email I sent after that.

Being a first time coach I think it was a great and successful season.  Of course, don't look at the win/loss column but more so the play on the ice.  Thanks to the awesome bench staff of Rob Cardiff-assistant, Larry Morell - trainer and Sam Johnston- assistant trainer; my job was easier than expected.  The goal was to help this team of teenagers to be aggressive (some didn't need help). and play with systems.  In other words be first to the puck and don't give up until we get it.  And systems means, the players have 2 or 3 set plays for breakouts and setting up plays.  95% of the work was done in practice and the games were a chance to showcase and fine tune all those efforts.

Thank you to the 2nd and 3rd year players for the acceptance and support of the 1st year players.  Most importantly in the dressing room with a simple conversation, or on the bench where a "good shift" gesture makes them feel like part of the team.

A clear cut winner of the most proficient award goes to Dakota Barfoot.  His 100% effort up and down the ice every game, along with his new found confidence with the puck on his stick made him an easy decision.  Congratulations Dakota!

It was a harder decision for teammate of the year with many different nominations, but in the end it was Brett Falk.  this young adult has been personally accused by me for being too nice all the time.  I had to explain almost every game, that its hard to intimidate the other team with your size when you are smiling all the time.  Well mannered and easy to talk to.  Congratulations Brett!

Have a great summer
