Cyclones Slowed in Mitchell
The Listowel U13-AE Cyclones were handed a 7-2 loss by the Mitchell Meteors on Sunday.

The clubs played even for the majority of the first period until the Cycs broke the goose eggs with an unassisted goal by Avery Spencer, his first of the campaign.

With 15 seconds left in the first, Mitchell tied the contest on a power play which led to much momentum for them in the second. The Meteors rattled off five unanswered goals in the middle frame and then rolled to a 7-2 victory.

Listowel's other tally came late in the contest off the stick of Finn Molenhuis, as the D-man cleaned up a loose puck in his own end and finished a solo dash off with a wrister over the blocker of the Mitchell netminder.

Goaltender Austin Frey picked up an assist on the goal, a highlight in a tough night as he came up with some in-tight saves but also fell victim to some tricky bounces and odd-man rushes.

Listowel's other defenders, Jacob Hodder, Ryan Jurgens and Malcolm Long moved the puck well at times but had most of their offensive chances blocked.

The remaining forward crew of Spencer Henhoeffer, Noah Hiemstra, Hudson Ireland, Nehemiah Dyck, Liam Ough and Hudson Ireland created chances in the first and last 10 minutes of the game but were also susceptible to some lackluster shifts in between, which led to the home team's rally in the second period.

The Cyclones have a chance to get back on track on Saturday as they take on the Rebels in Keady at 1:30 pm.
