Cyclones Nipped By Northstars
The Listowel U13-AE Cyclones were edged, 4-3, by the Bruce Peninsula Northstars on Wednesday.

The Cycs opened the scoring late in the 1st with an unassisted goal by Finn Molenhuis.

However, the Stars responded a shift later with a goal by Travis Vanderkooy, who ended up with three goals and a helper on their fourth.

Listowel regained it's lead in the 2nd period as defensive partners Spencer Henhoeffer and Malcolm Long passed the puck along the blueline before sending it down low to Hudson Ireland who finished the play off with a blocker-side wrister.

Bruce Peninsula rattled off a trio of goals before the period ended, leaving Listowel to regroup in the intermission.

After a slow start to the 3rd, Listowel eventually capitalized as Nehemiah Dyck used his reach to gather in a puck in front and tuck home a goal.

Goaltender Austin Frey kept his team in the game all night, especially in the 2nd period when all the momentum was on the 'Stars side.

Forwards Owen Alexander, Liam Ough, Avery Spencer and Noah Hiemstra generated plenty of chances - especially with the goalie pulled - but were unable to get the tying tally as the Northstars' goalie shined.

Ryan Jurgens was solid in front clearing pucks all night even without his regular defensive partner, as Jacob Hodder was away for the night (World Series Celebrationitis).

Listowel's next chance at a victory comes on Saturday in Southampton at 1pm.
