Cyclones Give Ice Dogs Something To Chew On
The Listowel U13-AE Cyclones may have taken a 7-2 loss to the high-powered AEMHA Ice Dogs but played perhaps their best game of the season on Saturday.

Listowel showed up in Tara with speed and tenacity and jumped out to a 2-0 lead by the middle of the first period.

Malcolm Long used some flash and dash to slide in the first goal of the game. Noah Hiemstra put in the second marker, taking the feed from Avery Spencer and slipping across the front of the crease for the backhand finish.

The line of Liam Ough, Hudson Ireland and Ryan Jurgens drove the home team crazy with their relentless forecheck. Fellow forwards, Owen Alexander and Nehemiah Dyck, used their shadow ability and strength to shut down the league's highest scorer and add to their opponent's frustration.

Goaltender Ryan Reath was up for the challenge of playing a rep squad and came up big all afternoon, thanking his posts at times for their help in the third period.

Jacob Hodder, Finn Molenhuis and Spencer Henhoeffer were under siege at times but never out of control in the defensive zone as they played exceptionally well against the Dogs' dangerous forwards.

Listowel will look to keep their intensity up as they have a date in Durham at 7:00 pm on Tuesday.
