Cyclones Get Gritty vs. West Grey
The Listowel U13-AE Cyclones took an 8-1 loss in their game against the West Grey Warriors on Wednesday.

While the Cycs were outplayed by the Rep-based visitors for most of the evening, they generated chances in spurts and showed some resolve in the final period.

It was in that period that Listowel's lone goal was scored by Finn Molenhuis, who dashed down the right side and snuck a shot past the blocker of the Warriors' netminder.

Listowel didn't back down as the game wore on, as both teams combined for seven penalties in the final frame.

Hudson Ireland made his way to the box twice and was joined by Owen Alexander and Ryan Jurgens for a spell, as the trio refused to be pushed around by the larger West Grey squad.

Goaltending duties were split by Ryan Reath and Aiden Metzger who were both steady as they have been all season, despite long stretches of play in their own end.

Malcolm Long and Jacob Hodder skated well and anchored the back end while Spencer Henhoeffer was relied upon to split roles for the evening.

Nehemiah Dyck, Liam Ough, Spencer Avery and Noah Hiemstra combined for several odd-man and breakaway chances but couldn't find the back of the net.

Listowel will play an exhibition match on Saturday at 2:00 pm in Meaford on Saturday before shutting things down for a couple weeks over the holidays.
