Cyclones Fade In Mitchell
The Listowel U13-AE Cyclones built up a 3-1 lead in Mitchell on Friday but could not hold on as the Meteors rallied for a 5-3 final score.
The Cycs offense was ignited by Finn Molenhuis who snapped in a wrister early in the first period.
His work wasn't done there though, as the veteran defenseman gave his team a 2-1 lead in the second period with a long-distance rush and five-hole hole finish.
Then in the middle of the frame, Liam Ough sacrificed his body to get a puck off the end boards and into the middle of the ice for Hudson Ireland to flick in past the Mitchell netminder.
However, the Cyclones ran out of gas in the third period as the Meteors tilted the ice and eventually took a 4-3 lead on a power play with four minutes left. The home team then cemented their win with an empty netter, just after Listowel narrowly tied the game with the goalie out.
The Cyclones will continue their playoff push next Thursday with a 6:30 pm puck drop in Clinton.
