Busy weekend for the Listowel U9 Cylcone Reps
The Listowel U9T1 Cyclones got the day of school on Friday to play in the Drayton Jamboree and put in a good showing picking up two wins out of three games.  To top off the weekend they welcomed their division rival the Kincardine Kinucks to town on Saturday afternoon and picked a hard fought win.

Game one saw the Cycs play the Mt Forest Rams for the first time this year.  The boys carried the play for most of the game and skated to a fairly convincing win.  Highlighting game one was a four goal game from Ian Magee and a pair of hat tricks from Alton Sholdice and Tyce Passmore as well as some rock solid play on the point from defensive pillar Brandt Donaldson.

Game two had the boys pitted against a team from a different division in the Ayr Flames.  This is the host team for the Silver Stick tournament the Cyclones will head to at the end of March.  The Cyclones dominated this one from start to finish highlighted by four goals each from Maddox Birk and Magee, a hat trick from Miles Good and a fabulous one goal performance in net from Sully Meulensteen.  Oliver Gutknecht was moved from forward to defense in this one and played great firing home two laser beams from the point.

Game three was going to be the toughest test for the boys from Listowel as they faced off against the host Drayton Defenders.  The first shift started well for the Cycs as they picked up two early goals but eventually the very talented Defenders would break through and take the lead at the break.  Fin Long would get the 2nd period started in the right direction when he slid a point shot home to get the boys within a couple of goals.  In the end that's as close as they would get as they dropped the third game but gave a very gritty performance against a very strong team.  Overall it was a great day and the boys had a blast.

Saturday afternoon saw the Cyclones host the Kincardine Kinucks at the Steve Kerr Memorial Complex.  The boys would have to play short two players as Hunter Adamson was still recovering from a broken arm and early in the day it was learned that Alton Sholdice was down with a bug.  A resilient and determined group got off to a great start against Kincardine jumping out to an early 3-0 lead before the Kinucks would find the net.  The short handed Cyclones would keep the pressure on throughout the first period and would find themselves well in control heading to the break.  As expected, the Kinucks wouldn't quit and came out firing in the 2nd half against a tired group of Cyclones, goalie Meulensteen made some great saves to weather the storm and hold on to a solid win.  After lots of hockey on Friday and Saturday the coaching staff cancelled practice Sunday to give the boys a well deserved day off. The Cycs are back in action on Tuesday when they play Mitchell and then head on a huge four game road trip on the weekend starting Friday in Saugeen Shores.
